Written by Mehdi Nasiri, Gauntlet was earlier staged in Iran under the title of The Votes and chosen as the top play by the country's Isar Playwriting contest and the 11th Resistance Theater Festival.
The play is about an Iranian-Armenian journalist, whose family insists on leaving Iran after he returns home after months of captivity in a Kurdish village during the Iraq-Iran war.
Sponsored by Iran's Cultural Office in Armenia, Gauntlet will be staged from Dec. 4 to 6, 2009, with a slight change in the text and performance style
